Garage Doors are usually fitted with a roller, tilt or sectional door opener.  This will be controlled via remote control from the outside, or a button on the inside. 

If you have a lighting and automation system, your system remote will open the gate, garage door, front door and unset the alarm all on one device.

You will also be able to release the garage door via your alarm system - so in the case where you are away overseas and your neighbour calls to let you know there is water running out of your laundry door, you can call the house, unset the alarm and pop the garage door to let the plumber inside.
